About Learn to Skate

Ice Coaching Elite learn-to-skate classes are based on the National Ice Skating Association's SkateUK basic skills program. SkateUK is designed to encourage ice-skating at all levels from toddler to adult, keeping each skater excited about the sport from the time he/she begins lessons until goals are successfully achieved.

The classes are structured into group lesson time, with skaters graded according to ability. Three will also be additional time to practice.

SkateUK is highly recommended for the beginner skater as a fun and effective way to learn the basics of ice-skating, whether it is figure skating, dance, hockey or speed skating.

As a skater advances through the NISA basic skills program and the skating maneuvers become more difficult, private lessons may be used to supplement the group lessons. When the skater has completed SkateUK OR indicates a strong desire to pursue more skating, it is time to consider moving on to club membership and a more consistent exposure to private lessons.

Participants in the SkateUK program are invited to skate in the ICE annual Christmas ice show.
